Sharing the Care

By December 3, 2025No Comments

Each month, our Residents do a community project – something to help others. They have baked cookies to take to our local fire department, made crafts to sell at the spaghetti dinner, and packed food kits for the homeless, among others.

For their latest project, one of the Residents had the idea to share some of their bingo winnings (they play for quarters) with others who may be going through a hard time. Everyone was very excited about the idea, and was eager to participate. So each week they dropped quarters in the collection box, and when the time came to donate it, there was a total of $50! That’s a lot of quarters!

Activity Director Gaby reached out to Grandview Assistance Program (GAP), a local agency who’s mission, “to cultivate a community of care by offering support and instilling hope to our neighbors facing adversity” seemed like a great fit. GAP offers emergency assistance programs like a food pantry, utility and rent assistance, winter coats, and schools supplies to name a few. They said they would be very happy to receive the donation.

So Gaby and some Residents went to GAP and dropped off their collection. While there, they were able to meet the staff and volunteers, tour the place, and get an up-close look at the good work they were supporting. It was a lovely experience for all involved.

We are always touched by our Residents’ kind hearts and generosity in sharing what they have with others. What a great example of God’s love!
